Jura Hotel
mini MEKONS & Robbie Fulks

After many moons spent hatching a plan, we're now looking forward to an acoustic show with the Mini Mekons - a special line up of the great Mekons with auspicious special guest Robbie Fulks.

"Meaty and grizzled folk rock...After all these years, you still want to join them." Rolling Stone

With a career that started in Leeds in the heyday of 1977, The Mekons have stuck to their artistic guns and remain fired and inspired by their original punk ethic while managing to morph from a anarchic collection of 19 yr olds into a band that continues to stand proud traversing genres and styles that draw on rock, country reggae and folk. With a massive catalogue of recordings, collaborations with artists like Kathy Acker and Jock McFadyen, at least one book and now a recent documentary movie 'Revenge of The Mekons', The Mekons continue move forward as one of the most important, albeit cult, bands the UK has produced. Robbie Fulks, from Chicago, became known in the 90's as a sharper-than-a-tack, wry genius staple of the alternative country scene, and now espouses the folk and bluegrass sounds that once captured the imagination of a little boy who first picked up a banjo at age seven.

This will be a night to say you were at, wherever you come from.
